In Tweet after Tweet, and in press conference after press conference, Trump pushed the narrative that COVID-19 was not anything to be worried about. The problem with that is that most Americans were watching in horror as the death toll skyrocketed and they were very worried. Had Trump properly managed the COVID-19 response and spoken truthfully about the pandemic he would have won re-election.
